{Guest Post from Eco and Elsie} Etiquette Shmetiquette
Thank you to the Eco-Beautiful Weddings Team for allowing me to be a guest blogger for the next few days! I’m excited to share with you some fun, eco-friendly ideas and if you like what you see, feel free to join me at, Eco and Elsie, my blog about earth friendly weddings, life, and marriage.
This is my spin on the typical “Dear Abby” question. If you are easily offended, this may not be for you, but if you need a good laugh and a refreshing take on eco-friendly wedding etiquette, then read on!
Question: The double envelope tradition seems wasteful to me. However, when I suggested to my family that we only use one envelope, they say everyone will make fun of my invitation. What should I do? (FYI: If you’re not familiar, a “double envelope” is an old wedding tradition wherein the wedding invitation is sent in two envelopes. The outer
envelope is for mailing purposes only, the inner envelope is primarily to identify who is invited.)
What you want to say: Yo, family! You suckers are weak. This is the earth we are talking about here! I don’t want to create extra waste! You get that? Besides, the only reason the double envelope tradition started is because the butler would open the dirty outer envelope before presenting the clean inner envelope to the home owners.* Hellloooooo? Do you see a butler around here? Our dog does NOT count!
What you probably should say: It doesn’t matter if people make fun of my decisions as long as they are ones that I believe wholeheartedly in. Making eco-conscious choices is something that’s important to my fiance and I and we are determined to have a wedding that represents our values. Thank you very much.
*This is true.

Yellow!
This year’s color trends are hot! For our Winter 2012 issue, Editor-in-Chief Katie Martin and Managing Editor Robin Fisher gave their picks for those colors we are sure to see in Eco-Beautiful weddings and fashion this year, and yellow was one of them!
Sunshine…lemonade…tulips…doesn’t yellow just make you smile?

Green Getaway: Nicaragua!
Secluded beach…tropical flora…romantic treetop villas…are you completely relaxed yet? If not, pack your bags and head for the Aqua Wellness Resort in Nicaragua!
This spectacular resort is the highlighted destination in this issue’s Green Getaway. A personal fave of our Editor-in-Chief Katie Martin, Aqua offers the perfect blend of luxury, adventure, and relaxation. At the same time (yep, it gets better) this piece of paradise is all about sustainability!
If you and your groom have not settled on a honeymoon (or wedding) destination, this resort is certainly worth considering.
Details and breathtaking pics of the Aqua Wellness Resort are ready to tempt you on Page 94 of the Winter 2012 issue!
Thanks Katie for not keeping this Eco-Beautiful secret all to yourself!
