This sounds amazing! As funny as it sounds, the most important part of keeping my bridesmaids “green” is to be very careful and considerate about my dress choice. We’re going with knee-length (or just above the knee) black dresses that would be great to wear to a wedding OR in a wedding, in this case. They’ve all agreed that they’ll be able to use them again and that they HATE how they have dresses in their closets that they’ll never touch again. What a waste!

Would love to win! As far as bridesmaids go, I’m hiring a makeup artist to do all of our makeup and she uses only mineral makeup. Also, the girls are able to pick out their shoes as long as they are a certain color, which means some of the girls are going to reuse shoes that they already have :)

  3. Ecochic says:

I am having them use vintage or used dresses to keep their wardrobe green, and use whatever shoes they want.

  4. Nicole says:

I’m consulting with my bridesmaids in order to insure they can (and will want to) wear their dresses again in the future. Also, I am buying them TOMS shoes for their bridal gift… they get a great pair of shoes and so does a little child!

  5. I found a really cool handmade dress on etsy for my bridesmaids. It’s made using an eco-friendly fabric, and it’s a convertible style dress that can be worn tons of different ways and the girls can totally wear this dress again! I’m thinking of getting one myself even!

  6. I am letting the girls pick their own dress and shoes so that it’s something they can reuse again!

  7. I also picked an eco-friendly bridesmaid dress from an Etsy vendor that the girls actually will wear again!

  8. I am trying to keep my girls green by giving them eco-friendly shoes to wear during the reception.

  9. Emma Curran says:

I’m doing a few different things to help make our wedding eco-friendly (I’m lucky enough to have a future husband who is full of ideas!) but I’ll just go over the bridesmaids.

First off, we’re carpooling to the area (there are only three of them) together, and NOT in a limo.
Secondly, all of my flowers are going to be organic, and that includes their bouquets.
Thirdly, (they don’t know this) I bought each of them different gifts because they’re all very different girls. However, I bought all of them from eco-artware.com (Check it out! It’s super amazing)
And lastly, everything’s natural as possible. Their hair is going to be down, not alot of product, minimal makeup, and we bought their dresses from an eco-friendly Alfred Angelo line :)
They are going to be so beautiful. Can’t wait!

  10. Jennifer says:

Everyone gets to pick out a dress from the thrift store — no limitations as long as they like it and will probably wear it again. :-)

  11. Kristin says:

I’m letting all my bridesmaids pick their own dress in a similar color including shoes. We’re making sure our venue and reception is within close walking distance to each other so no one needs to drive anywhere. This also includes the salon for our hair and make-up.

I’ve also asked my MOH and bridesmaids to refrain from sending invitations for the shower and bachelorette parties and instead send out a cute email so we don’t waste envelopes and paper.

  12. Rachel says:

    This body polish sounds amazing!
To keep my bridesmaids (and my wedding) green, we are all getting together to find and use local foods for my reception. We are using local farmer’s markets, and putting all the food together ourselves. A big job, but worth it!
