The $50,000 Green Wedding Giveaway in DC

Virdina Milfort & Kevin Gibbs won the 2nd Annual $50,000 Green Wedding Giveaway from the Washington, DC Green Wedding Consortium last night at the holiday party!

Look at how cute they are!!!!

We had such a fantastic time at the Decatur House Museum with many thanks to Square One Organic Vodka who sponsored the event along with Eco-Bar.  Other sponsors include Cakes by Design (who provided organic desserts) and Mallowdrama (who provided vegan cupcakes).  Ampa Events provided the swanky lounge furniture, bar and LED uplighting.  Jessica Pi provided videography; DC Rentals provided tables, glassware and table top items; Elegance & Simplicity, Inc. provided decor; Weddzilla provided ice, water and favors, Sugar Plum provided the stage; Mydeejay.com provided the music.  Of course, again, we love Andrea for taking these amazing photos…more coming!!!  Andrea Jacobson of The Observatory & Ralph Alswang are the official photographers for their wedding!

Weddzilla is our blog partner for the $50,000 Green Wedding Giveaway and both of our blogs will be giving our readers snippets of the couple and the other finalists during their planning process.  We really want ALL weddings to be green and we want to show you how.  Follow Virdina &  Kevin over the next few months to their wedding day on Earth Day!  This year’s Earth Day is the 40th Anniversary – what better way to celebrate than with Virdina & Kevin!

Green…in whatever color

Green can be the color red…

Thought I would use today’s post to do a little profile of a few of the photographers that really made this magazine a reality!

Andrea Jacobson of The Observatory took the photo above and a bunch of the other photos you have seen floatin’ around on the blog for the mag.  She is a GREEN RAWK STAR!  She also, by the way, took the photo of the cover of the magazine!  Yowza she is hot hot hot!  You will see her name pasted all over the magazine.  We heart you Andrea!

Tom Van Veen of Documentary Associates took some of the photos you will see in the countdown along the way to the magazine.  He also has an amazing ethereal editorial spread – that I can’t really reveal…but it is gorgeous!  He also, by the way, is one of the loves of my life – my big brother!!!!  (GREEN RAWK STAR) Seriously, he has his own band!  Check it out: Boxcar Collision.

Jennifer Domenick of Love Life Images was in charge of two beautiful spreads in the magazine (and has some photos floatin’ around on the blog as well).  Ugh – I can’t wait for everyone to see them!  She took the photos at my wedding here in the States (Tom took the ones of our wedding in the DR).  She is one of my dearest friends.  WE LOVE YOU JENNIFER!
