Happily Ever After: A Style Shoot
Welcome to San Luis Obispo, California, also known as the Happiest Place in North America!
Fondly known as SLO, San Luis Obispo is all about the small town atmosphere with no drive-thru restaurants, sky scrapers, or multiple highways- but rather weekly local farmer’s markets, rolling hills, abundant vineyards, and eclectic thrift and coffee shops. Locals pride themselves on living green and embracing the great outdoors, and they love the pups too. The town’s dog population is right up there with two-legged residents!
A team of very talented local wedding and event professionals put their eco-friendly superpowers together and created this incredibly fun wedding style shoot, inspired by the things that make SLO so unique.
This backyard wedding embodies the SLO-Cal life in every aspect. The bride and groom beautifully personify the area’s edgy, eco-chic sensibility, wearing one-of-a-kind recycled fashions. The bride is outfitted in a wedding dress made entirely from the pages of an old children’s book, accented with gauzy tulle from an old curtain. The groom donned a matching tie, and the bridesmaids rocked upcycled dresses found at a thrift shop.
The fresh floral bouquets were gorgeous, and the bride’s confection highlighted fresh fare such as artichokes and beets. And her fresh daisy necklace? LOVE!
The bride and groom said “I do” under a beautiful California Oak, while surrounded by sustainable design elements. The oak was hung with hand-made “chandeliers” made from old bicycle spokes, Edison bulbs from Restore (Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store), used books, and tin cans filled with gorgeous fresh flowers from the property.
There are so many fun elements to this shoot that we just couldn’t squeeze them all into one post. So, we’ll save the reception portion for next week! Have an Eco-Beautiful weekend!
