Eco-Beautiful Weddings is the first and only quarterly online magazine and daily blog dedicated to eco-friendly weddings. We are not talking just a website that spits out information about green wedding stuff, we are talking a page-turning virtual magazine baby! The E-Zine is set to go live on 12/15/09!
The Daily Blog is the resource for eco-couture weddings with a dash of sass from The Green-Ass Bride & Groom! The blog is all about bringing you the freshest in organic & sustainable wedding style from all over the world! We will always bring you highlights and sneak peeks at the behind the scenes of the making of each issue. Then…drum roll please… with each issue comes lots of free eco-giveaways from products used in our editorial shoots!
We really want all weddings to be eco-friendly. We love weddings, we hate the waste. We challenge each engaged couple to come and find ideas here on how to green their wedding. If each engaged couple in the world just took one element of their wedding and at least tried to make it eco-friendly, just think about how different the environmental impact would be. Are you up for the challenge as a bride or groom?
For wedding professionals we will provide useful tools and eduction throughout the year on how to become Eco-Beautiful Certified.
Will we ever print Eco-Beautiful Weddings Magazine? Well, maybe…but not right now. Being eco-friendly is what we are all about…so printing seems kinda silly since one magazine consumes about 1.5% of a tree and never mind the chemicals involved and the energy consumed to create and distribute just one box of magazines! So, while we research a real solution to this issue, we feel it is even better to keep all issues of the magazine posted online. The more green wedding resources that are stored here, the better!

Katie Martin, our Editor-in-Chief of both the magazine and the blog, has over 12 years of experience in the wedding industry. Based (and born) in Washington, DC, she is the nation’s leading eco-friendly wedding expert. Eco-Beautiful Weddings® is a venture of Elegance & Simplicity, Inc., which is Katie’s wedding planning and floral design firm. She and her team of over 35 event planners and floral designers do over 150 eco-friendly events per year. She is also the owner of the US Couture Wedding Consortium and the US Green Wedding Consortium. Katie used to be a missionary in the Dominican Republic and loves to travel. She lives with her wonderful husband and cutie patootie son in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her 3 books will be on bookshelves in 2010! Michelle Slaughter, our Managing Editor, is one of the nation’s leading wedding publicists. Her company, HERPRESIGN, works with some of the most innovative, influential and creative wedding professionals in the industry today. For years she worked in the nonprofit and political sectors advocating for the rights of women and girls, while helping to empower young people to harness their own political power. She is a national board member for the Younger Women’s Task Force and a member of Eta Omega Tau Sorority, Inc. Although now a Washington, DC resident, she will always be a Kentucky girl at heart. Robin Fisher, our Style Editor and owner of Polished Image & Style, is the premiere eco-friendly image and personal stylist in the Washington, DC area and San Francisco/Bay areas. She has worked in the fashion industry for over 15 years. Her style and fresh approach to eco-friendly wedding style is unparalleled in the wedding industry. There is, literally, no one like her!
