Real Wedding Rewind: Shanda + David

We originally featured this colorful wedding in 2011, and it’s just as fun today as it was then!

Bride Shanda, who is an art teacher, made 1000 paper cranes for her wedding day. She and her groom, David, infused their wedding day with cultural influences from all over the globe. Details included bali flags and a mehendi design on the wedding cake.

Check out more details here!

Real Wedding: Anna + Stephan

NYC bride and groom Anna + Stephan chose a nearby island along the St. Lawrence River (Anna’s grandparents have a home there) for their eco-fun wedding day. The entire wedding was DIY by the bride, friends and family, and the love shows in the details. The reception food was sourced locally, with a few additions from a few guests. Anna’s third grade students even chipped in and grew the garlic featured in the gumbo. Adorable!

Many Eco-Beautiful Wedding wishes to Anna + Stephan!

Real Wedding: Veronica + Michael

Veronica and Michael had a sweet + simple backyard ceremony and reception for their wedding in May. They are farmers in Georgia, and chose to get married in their own gorgeous backyard! A very crafty bride, Veronica got really hands on for the special day, making her wedding dress, all the paper flower bouquets and boutonnieres and the reception decor. The couple also kept their day eco with catering by a local restaurant.

Filled with love and readings from favorite books of the bride, groom and guests, their day was laid back and personal.

Many Eco-Beautiful Wedding wishes to Veronica + Michael!

Eco Wedding Style Down by the Riverside

Due to a technical snafu, we couldn’t share this fun post with you as promised last Friday, but here it is today!

Photographer Emily Heizer captured this lumberjack themed wedding style shoot complete with axes, flannel shirts for the ‘maids (cute!) and an adorable flapjack wedding cake. Staged in Oregon, the stylish bridal party struck a pose alongside the McKenzie river. The bouquets and boutonnieres were all made from local dried flowers including thistle, Queen Anne’s Lace, camellias and even a little broccolini.

A wild stream provided the backdrop for the reception. Fallen branches from a recent storm were used as the centerpiece for the intimate fete, and a chevron pattern quilt made from vintage sheets adorned the bridal party table. Tin cans and old wine bottles were upcycled with some paint and glitter, and used as vases. Eco chic!
