Real Weddings: Heather + Steve
Steve and Heather didn’t want a huge, fancy to-do wedding. They threw most of the traditions, like not peeking at each other before the ceremony, to the wind, and just gathered the people they loved in a charming garden. Amid strung flags and lights, the couple stood within a semi-circle of their guests, who cheered while they exchanged vows and rings. From there, it was good food, laughter and Scottish dance lessons.
This was very much a wedding rich with only the things and customs and people that really meant something to the couple. Every piece of jewelry Heather wore had a significance and history—a connection to people of importance in her life, and almost everything used in the wedding was handmade or made by friends or family.

A Fall Style Shoot
Inspired by the fall air and a vintage flair, photographer Erin Leigh sought to help eco brides and grooms visualize a wedding day crafted from recycled and re-purposed materials, many of which can be found in their own homes.
A vegetable garden theme is played out in the floral design and escort cards. All of the details used in the shoot—including the décor, signage, and the bride’s fascinator were all handmade. Even the location was all about the eco! The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano, California, a non-profit, educational center focused on providing the community with practical, environmental solutions for the home.

Real Weddings: Jennifer + John
Jennifer and John chose an eco space for their wedding last fall— the Lord Jeffery Inn in Amhers, Massachusetts. The recently renovated space features CO2 fresh air activated systems, a geothermal ground source heating and cooling system and keeps its gardens and lawns nourished using water-efficient methods.
The couple didn’t want to overwhelm the venue with extras, but instead kept their décor simple for the intimate celebration. The beauty and character of building and grounds was just enough…
