2013 Summer Indie Wed
How does an afternoon of shopping for wedding goods, gathering design ideas from some of Chicago’s hottest wedding pros and noshing on sweets and treats from the best local caterers sound? If this is how you’d like to spend some time this weekend, and you’ll be in the Chicago area, Indie Wed is the place to be on July 28th!
Unlike traditional bridal expos, Indie Wed offers an opportunity for brides (and grooms too!) to actually experience participating vendors. There will be a variety of unique and whimsical vendor to see, and you can even practice your reception twirl while the DJ spins a tune or two.
Over 100 independent vendors and artists will be in the marketplace, and many of them will have wares for sale.
Check out this video from one of last year’s events to get a feel for what’s in store!
Tickets are available for purchase here.
Have Fun!

Real Wedding: Candace + Troy
Today’s very Eco-Beautiful Wedding took place in Utah and we must say, it soooo put us in the mood for the warmth of the sun! Candace and Troy celebrated their day at the Big Cottonwood Canyon, where they enjoy the slopes together in the winter. This location came alive for these snowbunnies last June and with some green details, the mountains became the ideal setting for such a beautiful wedding. This clearly crafty bride made her own bouquet, the floral arrangements and located the “love” branches in Hawaii to create some DIY décor. Her wedding ring is actually a family heirloom, the couple served home-brewed beer in reusable bottles and donated their leftover food to local firefighters. All creative and conscious ways to go green!
Many Eco-Beautiful Wedding Wishes to Candace and Troy!

Eco Love: A Style Shoot
Since this is the official month of L-O-V-E, we’re planning to share a few more lovely real weddings and eco-love inspired style shoots all month long! So, we’re starting off the week with this one from beautiful California!
Inspired by the fall air and a vintage flair, photographer Erin Leigh and a team of vendors sought to help green brides and grooms visualize a wedding day crafted from recycled and re-purposed materials, many of which can be found in their own homes.
A vegetable garden theme is played out in the floral design and escort cards. All of the details used in the shoot—including the décor, signage, and the bride’s fascinator were all handmade. Even the location was all about the eco! The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano, California, a non-profit, educational center focused on providing the community with practical, environmental solutions for the home.

Po Chi + Jeremy’s Multicultural Wedding
Blending two cultures for a wedding celebration often produces some of the most creative events ever, and Po Chi and Jeremy’s day is such proof of that! Their wedding was a perfect blend of both Chinese and American cultures, and we were fascinated by how they were able to incorporate both and keep it all beautifully green. From kimonos to S’Mores to handwritten love notes, Po Chi and Jeremy layered details upon details to create an Eco-Beautiful wedding day. And that image of the two of them on pages 84-85…stunning!
See it all here…
