Wintery Cocktails

Winter weddings present an opportunity to spice up your cocktail hour and reception with both warm and cool drinks.

Welcome guests in from cold with warm, mulled cider, flavored chai teas or delicious hot cocoa, all of which can be made from organic and fair trade ingredients. Then, once the party is well underway at the reception, invite everyone to cool their dancing heels with chilled drink options, infused and garnished with winter favorites like sugared cranberries and peppermint.

Be it warm or cool, your drink menu will be a hit!

Real Wedding: Melissa + Brian

Melissa and Brian, along with 55 of their closest family and friends, married in the mountains of Deer Valley, Utah last winter. Desiring a day with a vintage feel, the couple chose a classic and elegant black and white color palette and décor, and allowed the beauty of the snowy mountains to showcase the day.

A few eco facts about their wedding:

Melissa wore a family treasure—her grandmother’s bracelet which each granddaughter in her family wears on their wedding day.

In lieu of favors, the couple donated money to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Cancer Center in honor of the groom’s cousin Jeff Albright who battled cancer as a child.

The reception meal, prepared fireside at the venue, included homemade fig mustard and strawberry chutney. Yum!

Real Wedding: Sarah + Chris

This week’s couple chose the eco-friendly Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas (the nation’s first certified organic special events and wedding venue) for their day last December. With a creative formal dress code in effect, Sarah and Chris delighted their guests with organic food, a tree-inspired escort card display, a little Klezmer music and fire dancers!
