Gearing up for the Summer Issue!

WOW—what an awesome day yesterday!  We had such a fab time shooting our editorial for the Summer 2012 issue.  Photographed by the one and only Jennifer Hughes and directed by our style maven Robin Fisher, this shoot was spilling over with creativity.  While we can’t share too much just yet, we can tell you that the colors are bright, the images are sweet, and you are certainly in store for a treat!

It’s all about Location!

 Once we settled on the theme of our Winter 2012 editorial, we knew finding the ideal location would not be an easy feat.  There aren’t too many locations that can capture the essence of an Industrial Glam vision!  The scene that fit the bill would have to merge a little grunge and a lot of glamour… machinery and a hint of magic …some hotness with a touch of haute-ness.  “Where in the world was this place?”  we asked.  Before long, we had our answer- the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower in Baltimore, Maryland.

The second we stepped inside the tower clock at the top of this building, we knew instantly that this was IT.  With a hair and makeup “dream team”, an amazingly talented photographer, a stunning model, and our rockin’ Managing and Style Editor on deck, the Industrial Glam vision truly came to life! You’ve got to see it to believe it…

A Look Behind the Fall Scenes

The day of our cover editorial shoot at the River Farm in Alexandria, VA ROCKED-literally! The day of the shoot, the East Coast experienced an earthquake.  We were a little shaken and stirred (sounds like a good martini, huh?) but our incredible team kept it together. The result was what we feel is our best yet! The hair, the makeup, the gowns, the model…the perfect blend of eco-beautiful elements to create a stunning vision bought to life by Delores Holloway of a little bit of whimsy photography.

Where were you?

As we are gearing up for the Fall Issue – I had to share this beautiful and somewhat haunting image.

Without giving too much away – this was taken on the day we did the photoshoot of the main cover editorial. What makes it so haunting is that it was also the day we had that scary earthquake here on the East Coast!

While this is a sneak peek of the upcoming beautiful Fall issue – it is also a reminder to remember those that we lost during the hurricane the weekend after the earthquake.  We send out our love and prayers to those that were affected heavily by the hurricane.

On this Labor Day – we salute all the hard working emergency response teams that worked around the clock that weekend!  True heros!

Phil Collen Backstage

We were thrilled to be able to showcase Phil Collen’s beautiful eco-friendly and vegan wedding to Helen Simmons in our fall issue of Eco-Beautiful Weddings last year.  Just so happened that Def Leppard was in town this past weekend and Phil and Helen invited us to come backstage to finally meet them!  I took along amazing wedding gown designer Stephanie Ward of Punk Rock Bride as she is also a big fan of Def Leppard!  As a thank you, I brought them a print copy of the Fall 2010 issue!

Thanks again to Phil and Helen – it was a rockin’ time!

(Yes that is my 21 week preggo belly!!!)
