Eco-Friendly Bridesmaids
There’s more to being eco-friendly than dressing your wedding party in green frocks. Equally important is the burning question:
“Will they wear it again?”
“Reuse, recycle” isn’t an eco-mantra for nothing!
So, select dresses not only made from sustainable textiles using ethical practices, but also consider who’s wearing it.
What style and color is likely to look best on everyone? Or think about mixing it up; choose a color, and allow each woman to find a dress that works for her. Finally, the best idea of all is a convertible frock, customizable to suit every silhouette!

Shabby Chic Bride
Webster’s Dictionary defines ‘shabby chic’ as a “style using deliberately worn and deteriorated items to achieve an elegant overall effect.” We’d add romantic, feminine, and dreamy to the description! Shabby chic can be interpreted lots of ways, allowing room to reflect personal style.
A woman who envisions a wedding day look reflecting her shabby chic style and eco-friendly sensibility is in luck! Often utilizing organic fabrics and found, vintage, or salvaged details, shabby chic and eco-friendly go together like peas and carrots…Here are just a few shabby chic details for an eco-shabby chic that caught our eye!

Nico Cervantes Paper Wedding Design
Nico Cervantes does it again with this amazing paper wedding photo shoot! Since paper is perfectly aligned with our 1st Anniversary (ok - so it was not our wedding anniversary - but we are a wedding magazine!)
The vases and flowers were made completely from the pages of old books. Coffee filters and recycled paper fill in the gaps! And don’t take your eyes of that those cute as pie glasses.
Something like this would be perfect for decorating your escort card table!
Shredded paper can be reused for almost any type of decor as shown above! Hopefully Nico has inspired you to reuse paper from what is lying around your house to create unique and adorable decor for your wedding. Let us know what you come up with and thanks to Nico for the inspiration!

Anniversary Party + The Cotton Bride
On Wednesday we celebrated our Anniversary with Style!
Chris Kole unveiled his new Fireflies Collection from The Cotton Bride at our party! The new collection is amazing and complete with airy designs that truly let a woman be herself on her wedding day! This particular dress is one that really stole the show!
With so many dresses and eco-style, we had a veritable who’s who from Washington, DC & New York! From the folks over at the National Wildlife Federation to the Executives of Chevrolet rolling the new Volt and Cruze over for our guests to ride in - there is simply way too much to talk about! We plan on doing a juicy recap of the event in our Spring Issue of Eco-Beautiful!
A special thanks to Chris Kole and Fikre Ayele of The Cotton Bride. Chris created Katie’s (our Editor-in-Chief) chocolate gown for the evening and she (in her own words) “has never felt more glamorous”!
Our new managing editor Robin Fisher was the glue for the entire fashion show! Working closely with Chris Kole and Fikre Ayele to make sure the models and the dresses shined! Washington, DC has never seen such a beautiful fashion show!
We also want to send out a very special thanks to our friends at Cotton Incorporated (The Fabric of Our Lives®) and Chevrolet for making this event so special. Stay tuned for a special recap from Cotton Incorporated!
Take a look at all of our wonderful sponsors:
