Etsy Love!

If you hadn’t heard, Etsy is one of the most fantastic resources for the Eco-Beautiful bride. Celebrating all things creative and crafty, the site features artisans from all over the U.S. who create lovely items for weddings like this adorable sign (by Etsy seller RomanticPlanet) to announce your grand entrance!

Here are just a few more pretty things you can find there…

These invitations from Etsy seller avie would be perfect for a Mexican-themed wedding. They are designed based on the Mexican “papel picado” art form, which involves cutting paper into elaborate designs!

How adorable are these pinwheels?!? Etsy shop Rule42 offers these handmade cuties in custom colors and patterns. Use them in lieu of bouquets for your girls (you can get smaller versions for boutonnieres and corsages!), to line your aisle for an outdoor ceremony, or in centerpieces. Love ‘em!

In addition to your decorative items for your wedding, Etsy is the place for unique accessories for brides too. This eco-gorgeous headpiece from one of our fave designers, LoBoheme, is just one of them!

We absolutely LOVE Etsy here at Eco-Beautiful Weddings, and we are sure you will too…if you don’t already!

Thanking Mom

We HEART Moms! How would this wedding have happened without her? We know, it wouldn’t have. So you have to do something special to thank her for all of the love and support, and just to let her know how special she is to you and your groom-to-be.

A very thoughtful way for a bride to honor her mother is to present her with a gift prior to the wedding ceremony. Depending on her personal tastes, there are so many cool eco-friendly gift options. Consider these for starters!

If your mother is a jewelry lover, anything from eco-friendly designer Jemma Wynne would be a stunning addition to her jewelry box. A bracelet or earrings that completes her wedding day or rehearsal dinner look would be hot!

Does Mom love flowers? How about a beautiful arrangement delivered on the morning of the wedding from eco-friendly florists Organic Bouquet? And if you’d like to really surprise her, have another arrangement sent to her on your one month anniversary just to remind her of how much you appreciate all she’s done.

Taking a moment to capture your thoughts in a letter is a very sentimental gift your mother will certainly treasure forever. Write your letter on recycled paper and present it in a vintage letter box that Mom can use to store her other wedding-day keepsakes. Etsy.com is a great resource for beautiful handmade and vintage boxes-this one is from seller NanaMontana!

Eco-Style: Fall Cookies

Our Eco-Style post for this week highlights something yummy for the tummy- COOKIES! The fall and winter months are ideal for baking, so with the holidays fast approaching, why not give some thought to some delish and organic treats?

No time for baking AND planning an Eco-Beautiful affair? Understood. You can find yummy and wonderful treats at a local farmer’s market or organic bakery!

This recipe for organic Double Ginger Cookies from Epicurious is perfect for a fall cookie wedding favor or as an option on your dessert bar!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups organic all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups organic whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon organic ground ginger
  • 3/4 cup minced organic crystallized ginger
  • 1 1/4 cups organic cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons organic ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup organic unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup organic canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated organic lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh organic lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon organic vanilla extract

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, and crystallized ginger.
  • In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of the sugar and all the remaining ingredients.
  • Stir the two mixtures together until moist and incorporated, shape into a disk, and cover with plastic wrap. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, or up to 1 day.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the remaining 1/4 cup sugar in a shallow bowl. Use 2 Silpats or lightly grease 2 cookie sheets.
  • Flour your hands and form the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll the dough balls through the sugar, and then flatten them with the greased bottom of a drinking glass or cup. Place the cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake the cookies for 18 minutes, or until slightly browned (they won’t get very dark, so be careful not to keep them in too long).
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a minute. Then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
