Chalkboard Weddings

Now that summer is upon us, it’s time to break out those chalkboards again! Yes, we know that summer is year round in some places. However, some unlucky folks (like us) have to wait for spring to dare even think about having an outdoor wedding! Chalkboards are perfect for saving time, money and paper (and you can reuse the chalkboard in your new home!)! Here are a few lovely ideas from your engagement party to your wedding day with chalkboard style!

What are some of your ideas?

NewlyMaid

With the NEWLYMAID service, women can turn their gently worn bridesmaid dresses into new ready-to-wear styles. NEWLYMAID will accept bridesmaid dresses and special occasion dresses from ANY designer brand. In return, NEWLYMAID offers a special 30 – 50% credit value towards a new ‘any occasion’ dress. The dress styles, which sell between $150 to $250 at full price, range from a sophisticated office look to flirty looks fit for a night on the town.

How It Works

Upon visiting NEWLYMAID.com, request a complimentary return mailer to ship your old dress to NEWLYMAID. The mailer will include a prepaid return-shipping label for an easy return. Once NEWLYMAID receives your dress, it is inspected to make sure it meets the NEWLYMAID criteria: no pulls, tears or stains and all zippers and closures must be in good working order. If the dress qualifies, the customer will receive an email confirming that the dress is accepted and that special pricing has been ‘unlocked’ on her NEWLYMAID account. She can then visit NEWLYMAID.com to order her dress at the special price.

The returned dresses will be either donated to charity or recycled. Dresses which are suitable for reuse will be donated to Clothes4Souls. Please visit clothes4souls.org to learn more about how the organization brings shoes and apparel to people in need around the world. NEWLYMAID will work with UNIFI, a global textile company, to recycle qualifying dresses that are 100% polyester. Future NEWLYMAID styles offered will include REPREVE (R)- recycled fibers made by Unifi. REPREVE is a registered trademark of Unifi, Inc. To learn more about Repreve visit: www.repreve.com.

NEWLYMAID offers a way to swap “something old for something new” in a modern way with environmental benefits and charitable incentives. Visit www.newlymaid.com to get started.

Lauren + Mason’s Eco-Hawaiian Wedding

We love this colorful Kauai, Hawaii wedding submission from Joanna Tano Photography. The bride and the groom used everything locally and the wedding was at a private residence.

O my goodness how we love how the flower girls got to just sit during the ceremony and all of the girls got to where dresses they can wear again!

An amazing array of eco-beautiful options with plants as favors, biodegradable plates and utensils and local tropical plants and flowers as decor!

Congrats to Lauren + Mason!

ZankYou

We are excited to talk about one of our newest sponsors - Zankyou - just in time for Earth Day! Why is this so important for Earth Day week? Well - to put it frankly, with the gifts you don’t need and all of the shipping that happens with registries - it can quickly create a high carbon footprint! Zankyou helps with this on so many levels!

The flexible nature of the Zankyou gift registry service can help you combine a whole lot of gifts and experiences to suit your needs and tastes. You can include non-tangible gifts or specific eco-friendly gifts from a range of suppliers, without worrying about the carbon footprint.

Also, if you are attempting to plan a honeymoon, (regardless of location and methods of transportation), Zankyou‘s list lets you list all different elements of your honeymoon so your guests can contribute to your experiences.
And on top of all of this…they even have a feature where they can help you create your own wedding website!
Check them out by clicking here!
