Lauren + Mason’s Eco-Hawaiian Wedding
We love this colorful Kauai, Hawaii wedding submission from Joanna Tano Photography. The bride and the groom used everything locally and the wedding was at a private residence.
O my goodness how we love how the flower girls got to just sit during the ceremony and all of the girls got to where dresses they can wear again!
An amazing array of eco-beautiful options with plants as favors, biodegradable plates and utensils and local tropical plants and flowers as decor!
Congrats to Lauren + Mason!

ZankYou
We are excited to talk about one of our newest sponsors - Zankyou - just in time for Earth Day! Why is this so important for Earth Day week? Well - to put it frankly, with the gifts you don’t need and all of the shipping that happens with registries - it can quickly create a high carbon footprint! Zankyou helps with this on so many levels!
The flexible nature of the Zankyou gift registry service can help you combine a whole lot of gifts and experiences to suit your needs and tastes. You can include non-tangible gifts or specific eco-friendly gifts from a range of suppliers, without worrying about the carbon footprint.

New York Weddings Recap
I thought I had been to swanky bridal shows - but nothing topped this magnificent bridal show in New York City! Robin and I had a fantastic time seeing amazing wedding vendors and designers at the New York Weddings Magazine Bridal Show Last week! Our jaws dropped when we saw these amazing suits from Alton Lane. You can even customize the lining of the jackets for your groom or groomsmen!! And they are committed to a better world by investing in clean water and providing clothing for children both domestically and abroad! Totally Eco-Beautiful!
Our faves Amanda and Robard from Newlywish - quite possibly the best registry for your lifestyle! They believe in finding exceptional local vendors that have amazing style that you would not normally see in most major department store registries. You can even find gifts for your bridesmaids and groomsmen! Seriously - we are in love with them! AND - you don’t have to be based in New York to use this registry which is now starting to use vendors all over North America! QUICK - get on their site to register today!
Ahh - twobirds bridesmaids dresses surprised us with these new styles at the bridal show! We absolutely have loved their dresses since they were born - but now - we are past smitten! Their dresses are now available in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK!!! We love their fair trade, fair wage designs by New Yorker Ariane Finkel…Be sure to check out our editorial about twobirds bridesmaids dresses from our premiere issue!
We were so happy to see sweetie pie Jacqueline Weppner of Merci New York and Merci NYC blog. She styled the Newlywish Booth and Gabriella Bridal’s booth! JUST GORGEOUS! She is the top wedding stylist in New York and we love seeing her at various press stops we make! Always has a smile and just one of the nicest ladies in the wedding industry!
And last, but certainly not least, we got to see the utterly couture Maya Kalman from Swank Productions (one of the best wedding and event planning and producers in NYC)! Loved her clean and chic booth and of course - her beautiful smile!!!
Stay tuned next week for a style update as Robin and I are off to NY City this weekend for the Spring Bridal Market - look out for a recap!
Have a great weekend!

Real Wedding Inspiration
Instead of featuring one wedding today - we wanted to show several ideas and things we love for real wedding inspiration. We love Mike + Sarah’s wedding shown above at Heavenly Ski Resort last summer by Ocean Blue Photography! Why? We know they took full advantage of using the great outdoors as their main source of decor.
Planning a destination wedding and want it to be green? Why not try the beautiful St. Martin Chalets in Austria? St. Martin Chalets are made from locally sourced and untreated timber with 100% pure sheep’s wool insulation. The water is supplied by a natural spring and heated and powered by their own vegetable oil power plant - all surrounded by the Alps and full of luxurious surprises! (Click on the photo above for more details!)
Getting married in Hawaii? Going for beautiful and casual attendants clothing will ensure they will wear those dresses and outfits again! The Hawaii Island Reteat, near the small village of Hawi of the Big Island is full of eco-friendliness and surrounded by natural beauty as well! (Photo by Karen Loudon)
Kati + Pete’s wedding (photos by BellaLu Photography) from the Spring Issue of Eco-Beautiful Weddings was so chock full of ideas and beautiful photos - we simply can’t get enough! Not only did the bride wear a bright aqua dress, she wore sunflowers in her hair that they grew on their own farm! Their only gift request was a tandem bike and they had a wonderful time promoting local farms for their contribution to the wedding.
Stay local, give back to the community, buy decor and clothing to reuse after the wedding and you are well on your way to having a green wedding. This does not mean that a destination wedding is an ecological disaster. In most major metropolitan cities - they end up being destination weddings anyway for out of town guests. Reduce waste and do the best you can to provide locally produced food and decor. Carbon offset if needed - and by all means have the party of a lifetime!
